DRINKWATER EXPLAINS ENGLAND SNUB

The Chelsea star turned down an England call-up over worries concerning his fitness after just returning from calf injury.
Danny Drinkwater expressed great anger at claims that he snubbed the three lions.
England football manager Gareth Southgate invited Danny Drinkwater and lot of other players for the international friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The former Leicester midfielder explained that he was short of fitness and he would be better served with an rigorous course of daily treatment on his calf injury from Chelsea’s medical staff at Cobham training centre.
He Southgate appeared to welcome Drinkwater's explanations of not being fit enough, but then the media and very public suggests that the England manager is not totally happy with the snub, which angered Drinkwater who was thinking he had an understanding with Southgate, He Drinkwater maintains he is committed to his country and has been hoping that he can be called up for the 2018 World Cup Finals next summer.
Even the former England international Chris Sutton went as far as blasting Drinkwater, telling him he has made the biggest mistake of his career.

He Drinkwater now fears that his International ambition is now hanging on balance because of his decision to miss the two friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
But the fact remains he has yet to reach full fitness for Chelsea, following his £35million move from Leicester in the summer.
He has not played a full 90 minutes for the Blues since May. His calf problem flared up again last Sunday after he came on as a sub in the 1-0 league victory over Manchester United.

His decision to stay out of international duty was influenced by Chelsea medical team who examined him after Manchester United game and advised him against it as they feared he could aggravate the problem further.
