Didier Drogba Set to Retire from Football


Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has set his sights on retirement in 2018 after a second season with Phoenix Rising.
The 39-year-old, who is currently playing for USL side Phoenix Rising in the United States, is to devote his time to other projects.
 The four-time Premier League champion Didier Drogba scored nine goals in his first season with Phoenix Rising as they finished fifth in the Western Conference, bringing his career total to 296 goals in 677 appearances.
"Ah, do you want a scoop? I think next year will be my last season," Drogba told RMC Sport.
"At some point, you have to stop. I need to have time for my other projects. It's good to play, but at 39, it holds me back a bit.
Drogba spent nine years at Stamford Bridge over two spell, scoring 164 times for Chelsea, according to him the most important goal of his career was the Champions League winning goal in 2012 against Bayern Munich.

Drogba is going to retire as the Ivory Coast's record goalscorer with 40 goals, His initial stay in Chelsea coexist with one of the most successful periods in Chelsea's Football history, during which they also won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and Champions League.
Away from the Premier League Drogba also lifted the Super Lig title with Galatasaray in 2013, while he also spent time in China before moving to MLS with Montreal Impact.
