MAURICIO POCHETTINO: THE MAN REAL MADRID WANTS
After Tottenham’s 3-1 victory
over Spanish Champions Real Madrid, club president Florentino Perez has
identified Mauricio Pochettino as the potential replacement for Real current
boss Zinedine Zidane should the Frenchman need to be replaced before the end of
this season.
According to sources, the
Champions league defending champions believe the argentine to be the ‘long-term
solution’ to their current problems. Current Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane
has been at the club for less than two years but boasts of back to back
Champion’s League trophies and a La Liga trophy.
This season has however started
poorly for him and Los Blancos. Real are already eight points behind rivals
Barcelona who are currently topping the La Liga table. It is not a huge
surprise that the future of Zinedine Zidane is being questioned despite his
huge success in the Spanish capital.
With the turnover of managers at
Real Madrid being fairly rapid in recent years, with Jose Mourinho as the
longest serving manager, 2010 – 2013 since Vincente del Bosque’s spell from
1999 to 2003. It is no shock that the 45 year old Pochettino has been tipped as
the front runner to take the job. The former Espanyol defender has impressed in
the Premier League with Southampton and now Tottenham.
It remains very likely that the
manager’s role at Real Madrid could be available at some point in the nearest
future, and the Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino could be the man to take the
reins at the helm of affairs at the Santiago Bernabeu.
